Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati Airport / Station and transfer to Shillong. En route visit Umiam Lake – created by damming the Umiam River in the early 1960s. Overnight stay at Shillong.
After breakfast proceed for an excursion trip to Cherapunjee, It is the traditional capital of the Nongkhlaw hima (Khasi tribal chieftainship) known as Sohra or Churra. Visit Duwan Sing Syiem viewpoint, Noh Kalikai Falls, Mawsmai caves, Seven Sister Falls, Eco Park, etc. Later drive back to Shillong. Overnight stay at Shillong.(B)
After breakfast start a full day Local sightseeing in Shillong including The city’s own Ward’s Lake, The Botanical Garden, and Lady Hydari Park. The State Museum is a display of the lifestyle and heritage of the people of Meghalaya (closed on Sunday). Shillong is dotted with splendid waterfalls cascading down deep valleys forming misty sparks as they break the silence of the surroundings. Elephant Falls is a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern-covered rocks. For the Bird’s eye view of Shillong, one can take a stand at Shillong Peak. After breakfast transfer to Kaziranga, It was declared a National Park in 1974 and UNESCO declared Kaziranga a World Heritage Site in 1985. The park hosts two-thirds of the world’s population of Rhinos. Overnight stay at Kaziranga (B)
Morning enjoy Jeep Safari inside the National Park. Apart from the Rhino, other species found are hog deer, swamp deer, wild buffalo, elephants, and if you are lucky, the tiger. After breakfast at the hotel, you can visit tea plantations and rubber plantations. Afternoon enjoy a Jeep safari in the Central Range. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.(B)
After breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Guwahati. Situated on the South Bank of river Brahmaputra. Many ancient Hindu temples are in the city, giving it the name “City of Temples” the most important being Kamakhya Temple. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Guwahati.(B)
Full-day sightseeing in Guwahati covering Kamakhya Temple – Situated on top of the Nilachal Hill, Balaji Temple, State Museum, Navagraha Temple, Umananda Temple on Bhasmachal – a Shiva temple located at the Peacock Island – smallest inhabited riverine island in the world, Sankardeva Kalakshetra.
