After breakfast, embark on a city tour of Amman, beginning with the downtown area. Explore various historical sites and museums, such as the Archeological Museum, the Folklore Museum, The Citadel, and the Amphitheatre (Museums are closed on Tuesday), proceed onwards to visit Jerash – “Pompeii of the East”, Gerasa one of the Decapolis “the Famous 10 Greco-Roman Cities” Located 45 KM north to Amman, Jerash is the best preserved example of Roman Civilization in Jordan. The Major highlights: Arc de Triumph or Hadrian’s Arch, The Hippodrome, the oval square, the colonnaded street, the temple of Aphrodite, Temples of Artemis and Zeus and the Roman theater, The Nymphaeum, 14 Churches from early Christian-Byzantine era, some Umayyad and Mamluks settlements. After breakfast, depart to Wadi Musa City via kings high way visiting Madaba, Mount Nebo en route, Madaba, a city best known for the famous 6th century Mosaic map of Jerusalem & Holy Land and for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics and visit of St. George’s church, Visit Mount Nebo – Moses Mountain, situated 10 kilometers west of Madaba, overlooking the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, West Bank and Jerusalem, where believed the alleged sites of the tomb of Moses., arrive to Petra for check in. After breakfast, Visit the Nabatean Red Rose city of Petra, one of the 7 world wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enter the city through 1KM long narrow gorge which is flanked either side by 80m high cliffs The site is massive, and contains hundreds of elaborated rock-cut tombs, a treasury, Roman-style theatres, temples, sacrificial altars and colonnaded streets. Mt. Nebo a city mentioned in the bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land that he would never enter. Just off the King’s Highway 190 km south of Amman and less than an hour north of Petra stands an impressive castle as a lonely reminder of former Crusader glory dating from the same turbulent period as Kerak, crowning a cone of rock, which rises above a wild and rugged landscape dotted with a grand sweep of fruit trees below. It is today known as Shobak, but to the Crusaders it was Mont Real (Crak de Montreal) or Mons Regalis, the Fortress of the Royal Mount. Overnight stay in Petra. (B, D)
